Q: How do we get started?

Look through the themes displayed on this website. Choose one that you like, and then fill out our request form indicating which theme you want. We’ll install WordPress for you and activate that theme for you, so all you have to do is add your content.

Q: Will a new WordPress website replace my current one right away?

No, it will not. We’ll create a new domain for you under your existing account with the USCJ’s hosting platform (or a new account there if you don’t already have one), and then install WordPress and the theme you chose. You’ll be able to customize the website at a development address, and when you’re ready, just let us know and we can help you point your synagogue’s domain to the new website.

Q: Do I need to know HTML or CSS to work with the new website?

No, you don’t, but if you do, it certainly can’t hurt. The themes are designed with the intent that synagogues can use them entirely through the WordPress dashboard, requiring no editing of HTML files.

Q: Is there any charge for this?

No, there’s not! The USCJ is offering these themes as a free services to their affiliated synagogues.

Q: Do you provide any help or support if I don’t know how to use WordPress?

Yes, we do. We can answer your questions about using WordPress or these themes, and even provide a one-on-one lesson for you on how to use WordPress. If you still have further questions, please feel free to contact us.
